Blood on the Clocktower – The world’s best social deduction game
Blood on the Clocktower is a game in the same vein as Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow, Mafia, or The Traitors. In this game, a group of good players (Townsfolk and Outsiders), who do not know each other’s identities, tries to defeat a small group of evil players (Demons and Minions), who do know who they are. Unlike the games mentioned above, Blood on the Clocktower has no player elimination – even if you’re killed, you continue to play.
Over the past few years, the game has gained immense popularity and can be played at various difficulty levels. During Spellenspektakel, two versions will be played: Trouble Brewing, which is ideal for absolute beginners, and Sects and Violets, which is better suited for those who have already played Trouble Brewing a few times.
Most time slots feature Trouble Brewing, only the last time slot of the day features Sects and Violets.

We offer one-hour play sessions, guided by a highly experienced Storyteller who will lead you through the intrigues of the village of Ravenswood Bluff.
- The game includes some English terminology and requires lying and deception to win, so it is not suitable for players under 12.
- Each game needs at least 7 players to proceed.
- Two sessions run per timeslot; if a session isn’t full, we may merge them into one larger game of 10–12 players.
- If fewer than 7 players are present, you can either transfer your ticket to another timeslot or receive a refund.
Please note: these tickets only register you for the play session; a Spellenspektakel day ticket is required for entry to the venue.
‘Trouble Brewing’
Trouble Brewing is especially suitable for new players, and even for players who may never have played a social deduction game before. In this session the Storyteller will teach you the rules of the game, and you will discover how exciting it can be to find out where the evil team is hiding, or how you can secretly eliminate the good team.
Each player receives a role with a unique ability. The game is divided into two phases: the day phase and the night phase.
In the night the players have their eyes closed and are woken up one by one and allowed to open their eyes. They then receive information from the Storyteller, or may use their ability. The Demon will eliminate one player each night.
During the day the players will share information with each other to find out who the Demon is, but beware: the Demon and the Minions also take part in the discussion and will try to mislead the good players. The players then get the chance to eliminate one of their fellow players. If they succeed in eliminating the Demon, the good team has won. If not, the game continues into the next night. This goes on until either no good players are left, or the Demon has been found.
‘Sects and Violets’
Sects and Violets is a variant of the game that is more suitable for experienced Blood on the Clocktower players. In this version it is not only the aim to eliminate the Demon, but first you must work out which of the four Demons it actually is. The evil team has more tools at their disposal, but is also more vulnerable. In addition, extra game elements are introduced, making it a more complex experience than Trouble Brewing.
