Let’s HIT it: these are all the editions of HITSTER!
Whether you’re a real board game fanatic or just like to conjure one up every now and then for fun, you can’t have missed it: HITSTER is a hit! The music guessing game with QR Codes is popular with young and old, in groups and together, and thanks to the many different editions and expansions, every music lover can play a few songs.
Since the release of the basic game HITSTER Original in 2022, many new versions have been added. We list them for you here. Let’s hit it!
HITSTER: Original
Let’s start at the beginning with HITSTER Original. With this edition we were introduced to this extremely popular party game, which contains more than three hundred of the biggest hits of the past hundred years. All genres and all years are covered.
The principle of HITSTER is simple: Choose a music card and scan the QR code with the Hitster app to automatically play the song on Spotify. Guess when the song was released and place the card in the right place in your music timeline. Turn the music card over. Did you guess the year correctly? Then you keep the music card to further expand your timeline. By using the HITSTER tokens you make it just that little bit more exciting!
HITSTER: Guilty Pleasures
The first expansion of the original game is HITSTER: Guilty Pleasures. In other words: all your deliciously bad sing-along hits from the past in a cup. With this edition of HITSTER, shamelessly build a timeline with Guilty Pleasures because let’s be honest, everyone can secretly sing along to them, right? The execution remains the same as in the original, only with a little more shame on the cheeks.
HITSTER: Schlager Party
Very niche, but we all have our own knowledge. We’re not here to judge. For those who like to sing in a pint of beer during Oktoberfest, there is HITSTER: Schlager Party. This is the ultimate game for fans of sing-alongs, beer and lederhosen!
Dive into a sea of unforgettable hits, from classics to modern hits. Build your own unique Schlager timeline and be crowned the Schlagerkönig(in) of the evening!
HITSTER: Chansons Françaises
Speaking of niche: HITSTER Chansons Françaises appeals to all lovers of French folk songs.
This edition will not be received as enthusiastically as Guilty Pleasure, since many people will probably not get further than Édith Piaf and Charles Aznavour to Jacques Brel, but for the real Francophiles among us it is a true feast of recognition.
HITSTER: Summer Party
From Despacito to The Ketchup Song and from Waka Waka to the Macarena, all the summer hits of the past decades come together in HITSTER: Summer Party.
This edition has quite a bit of overlap with Guilty Pleasures, but with a bit more summer vibes. Here too, 300 of the best national and international hits are presented, making you want to have a cocktail on the beach.
HITSTER: 100% NL
If the Germans and the French get their own edition, a HITSTER with only Dutch music could not be long in coming. And yes: HITSTER 100% NL was in store March 2025.
This new edition was developed in collaboration with radio station 100% NL and brings together all your favorite Dutch songs for an evening of old-fashioned Dutch coziness. Get out those cheese cubes and slices of sausage!
HITSTER: Movies & TV Soundtracks
All movie nerds and series freaks unite: this edition of HITSTER takes you on a nostalgic journey through the world of film and television soundtracks.
This edition of HITSTER is an expansion pack and not a complete game, like the other HITSTER expansions are. That means that this box does not contain 300 but 150 cards, and the coins are also missing. No surprises in the game itself, but a stack of cards with unforgettable songs from films and series from the past decades.
HITSTER Music Bingo
With HITSTER Music Bingo, the creators of the game add a new dimension to HITSTER. In this edition, you will not be working on creating a timeline, like in all other editions, but you will be playing a nice old-fashioned game of bingo. Only not the way you are used to from your grandma.
HITSTER Bingo works with different categories in which you have to answer questions. Guess the decade, identify singers or bands, choose the exact year, or determine whether it’s before or after the 2000s. Got one right? Then you can cross off a colored box on your bingo card. The first one with a full line wins!

HITSTER: Rock
Fans of the harder music genres must have noticed it before when playing HITSTER: there are very few guitars in the game. A stray Nirvana here and there, if you’re lucky a little Metallica, but that’s about it with the guitars in the previously released editions.
Well, there’s good news for the rockers among us: HITSTER: Rock is coming! In this you’ll hear all your favorite rock hits in the broadest sense of the word: from Blink 182 to Genesis. It’s been around in Scandinavia for a while, from June 2025 we can also rock in the Netherlands with HITSTER. This is also an expansion pack, with 150 tickets.
HITSTER: Christmas
Just when you’ve got All I Want For Christmas out of your head, HITSTER is coming out with a Christmas expansion of their game. You guessed it: all the Christmas hits that are indispensable on the radio in November and December are included in this version of HITSTER.
This festive expansion set, which will be available in the fall of 2025, is packed with Christmas hits that will get you in the Christmas spirit. Wham!, Michael Bublé, Chris Rea… They’re all included. With more than 150 iconic songs, this set will add extra festivity to your Christmas!
HITSTER: Holiday Mix
As if that wasn’t enough festive news for the holidays, HITSTER is coming with yet another holiday expansion. In HITSTER: Holiday Mix, not only Christmas songs will be featured, but also New Year’s Eve and other holidays.
It’s not entirely clear what we should expect from this: we personally don’t immediately think of songs that belong to Easter or Ascension Day, so we’re curious to see what this holiday mix has to offer. When it will be released is still a bit of a mystery, but it will be released in 2025, and the packaging is gorgeous too!
