Ready, set, guess: these are all the 30 Seconds-editions!
You’ll need to be pretty resilient, you and your partner need to be on the same page, and: 30 Seconds! The limited edition of this popular party game was launched in 2011 and has been a staple in many a game cabinet ever since. Over the years, several expansions and special editions have been released. You can read all about them below!
30 Seconds
The original base game of 30 Seconds was released in 2011, introducing the world to the concept of this party game. For those of you unfamiliar with it, 30 Seconds is played as follows: one of you tries to describe as many of the five concepts on a card as possible within 30 seconds.
The 30 Second cards feature people, places, objects, and brands. Examples range from famous Dutch people and topography to everyday objects. Carlo and Irene, Watermelon, Almere, or the Colosseum… It’s all possible!
The other teammates guess the concept. Each correct guess means a step forward on the game board. Although… the die can still work against you. The team that reaches the finish line first wins!
30 Seconds Uitbreiding
Do you already know the 240 cards of the 30 Seconds base game by heart? Good news: an expansion for the game has been released!
This set contains another 240 cards and 2400 concepts, but not all new ones: 1000 of these 2400 concepts are new. We think it’s a remarkable choice not to just release a completely new set. But okay. The idea behind it is this: old concepts are combined with others, so players who have played the base game more often no longer have an advantage. With this expansion, you can play 30 Seconds to the fullest again!
30 Seconds Junior
For the younger players among us, there’s 30 Seconds Junior. Suitable for the whole family, because while the basic game was for players aged 12 and up, 30 Seconds Junior can be played with children aged 7 and up!
Animals, games, everyday objects, countries, and cartoon heroes… 30 Seconds Junior covers all sorts of youthful topics. For example, describe children’s book author Annie M.G. Schmidt or Sesame Street couple Bert and Ernie as quickly as possible. The cheerful purple and orange of this edition makes it really stand out!
Besides being a fun family game, 30 Seconds Junior can also be used as an educational game, making it the perfect game for the classroom, scouting, or after-school care.
30 Seconds Vlaamse Editie
While our eastern neighbors received a special edition of Hitster, our southern neighbors have their own edition of 30 Seconds. Many of the concepts in the basic game turned out to be unfamiliar to Flemish people. That’s why the 30 Seconds Flemish Edition was released: exactly the same 30 Seconds you’re used to, but with 240 cards featuring more Flemish familiarity!
That doesn’t mean this edition contains 240 cards about Samson and Gert and K3. However, a large number of well-known Dutch people have been replaced by well-known Flemish people! The other concepts in this edition, which are more universal, are still the same.
30 Seconds Everyday Life
The name says it all: the special edition of 30 Seconds Everyday Life contains new concepts that crop up in everyday life. In this edition of the game, you won’t find specific actors, athletes, or singers, but concepts you might encounter every day—and which we all know.
Sunbed, robot, sausage roll, turkey… The concepts that appear in 30 Seconds Everyday Life are everyday in the broadest sense of the word. And therefore easy to guess! Added bonus: because there are no difficult names, 30 Seconds Everyday Life is also perfect for children. Fun for the whole family!
