Visit the Education Square 2024
Games are not only fun, they also challenge you! While playing, you are unknowingly practicing a variety of skills. This approach to learning forms the foundation of the Education Square at Spellenspektakel.
Every year, publishers of educational games gather at the Education Square of Spellenspektakel. On the square, they share knowledge and experiences, and you can see the possibilities games offer in education.
The following participants will be present at the Education Square 2024 of Spellenspektakel:

Giddy Games
Gideon from the game publishing company Giddy Games in Nijmegen develops and produces educational physical games. These games are used in workshops, training sessions, and events. With unique custom-made training games, Giddy Games makes learning more enjoyable and effective.
Gideon’s latest game is Over Prikkels, an educational card game specifically designed for children with autism, ADHD, and giftedness. This game helps parents and caregivers gain insight into overstimulation and energy management in a playful and interactive way. Play together, have meaningful conversations, and find balance in a world full of sensory input.
Additionally, Giddy Games has also designed an Experience Design toolkit to help game creators design new games: Are you creating a game or experience? Design interaction and fun! This toolkit consists of 36 inspiring cards with over 140 questions. Each card helps you look at your game, experience, workshop, lesson, or product from a new perspective.
Looking for the right game for your situation or are you a game creator with questions? Feel free to stop by and chat with Gideon. You’ll find him at the Education Square at Spellenspektakel.

De Rolf groep
At de Rolf groep, we love learning—it’s what we are all about! That’s why we help professionals in education and childcare get the very best out of every child, every day. We do this by thinking along with them, taking part, and sharing all our knowledge about child development.
We spoke to them in this news article about the upcoming edition of the Education Square, where they will be participating for the third time. Every year, they learn more and have new, surprising encounters with visitors and other participants. Their mission this year is to let everyone play. With a wide range of games, extra play space, and education specialists at their booth, they’re ready for you!

Expertisecentrum Speel je Vaardig
The Speel je Vaardig method was developed with the vision that using games in education fundamentally contributes to the development of important skills. Heidi, a specialist in giftedness, executive functions, and mindset, has partnered with Margot, owner of Dé Spellenwinkel Breda, to bring this method to life.
Speel je vaardig is released as a practical book for anyone who wants to use games to develop cognitive and behavioral skills (executive functions). Games are excellent for practicing these skills, and the book explains how to do this. The games in Speel je Vaardig are suitable for ages 5 and up.
Speel je vaardig Junior is the sequel to Speel je Vaardig and, as the name suggests, is aimed at caregivers of young children (ages 2 to 6). The earlier you start practicing cognitive and behavioral skills, the better. In this book, tips for language and vocabulary are also added to each game, as games are excellent tools for these areas as well. The books Speel je Vaardig, Speel je Vaardig Expansion, and Speel je Vaardig Junior are available separately, but also as a bundle: Speel je Vaardig Deluxe.
Are you a teacher striving to strengthen executive functions and foster a growth mindset in your students? Heidi and Margot provide the tools, knowledge, and support you need. They also offer tailored training and advice on these themes. Want to learn more? Visit the Education Square during Spellenspektakel 2024.
Test de tijd
The new card game Test de tijd is a mix of Hitser and Timeline, with the theme of history divided into ten time periods, as taught in the upper grades of secondary school. The game was designed by Hije Wubs, a history and social studies teacher, and Martijn Brouns from Hit en Run Media Productions.
Test de Tijd was developed as a game for education. However, with the general interest in history and the simplicity of the game, it is suitable for anyone who wants to play a fast, easily accessible history game. It is expected to hit the market in the summer of 2025, but you can already play it on November 9th and 10th at the Education Square at Spellenspektakel.
Sustainability in the Classroom
As an Educational Technologist, Mevrouw Brilman is dedicated to integrating EdTech to support didactics. Her mission is to continuously explore new ways to connect technology with (digital) pedagogy.

She has designed the lesson method Sustainability in the Classroom in the form of a game. This method raises students’ and young people’s awareness of their impact on the world and encourages them to think about sustainable alternatives in a playful way. The lesson method fosters critical thinking and creativity and is built to make an impact!

Pumpkin Games
Pumpkin Games brings an innovative educational experience to your home or classroom! By combining Clementoni science kits with an interactive online learning environment, children can switch between hands-on experiments from the Super Chemistry kit and extensive learning opportunities in the Academy. All of this is enriched with questions and educational challenges that are both fun and educational. By earning points and leveling up, the scientific journey becomes even more engaging.
Farent
Farent offers support for daily life, from neighborhood assistance to individual help. Based on the social themes they support, tools are also developed from research, practical experience, and close collaboration with local residents. This is how the game Blizz was created.
The board game Blizz (2-6 players) is an educational game for young people aged 12 to 18. It helps them hilariously and lightheartedly explore the consequences of their choices, showing that luck is partly within your control, while some things simply must be accepted as they are. Topics like love, sexting, smoking, alcohol, drugs, peer pressure, moving, divorced parents, school, skipping class, going out, theft, and social media are discussed in a fun and engaging way. The game was developed with the help of young people, parents, and professionals. It’s a great and educational game to play together in class, at youth centers, scouting groups, community buildings, or at home!
